I Miss You

So it is only two months into D's deployment and I've been trying to keep myself super busy so I don't have much time to dwell on the fact that there is still 10 months to go.

Cooped Up

The past couple weeks have been mostly taken up by hospital visits to my nephew Owen. Owen has Cystic Fibrosis and is currently enduring his first hospital stay related to his disease. Keeping a rambunctious 4 year old occupied in a tiny hospital room for 14 days is no easy task. My siblings and parents and I have been taking turns going to the hospital to give my sister a break and a chance to get outside the room and relax.

This is Owen with his 'robot' arm. Unfortunately because he is so active they have had to re-do and change arms a couple time which is not his favourite thing to say the least.

Spring Flowers

Just purchased these cute little flowers from Lucy Goosey's Etsy shop. Hoping they will give me some inspiration to try something different with my hair. Current hair options include down or ponytail.

If only....

This is exactly how I feel after spending the weekend in East Lansing, Michigan. Who knew that a 4 1/2 bus ride could be so exhausting. Maybe it was the 12 teenage girls and the lack of sleep despite the very nice beds at the Hampton Inn.

One of Those Days

Woke up this morning to a flat tire on my car. What a way to start the day! I could actually walk to work but had an appointment at lunch that I need my car for. So I have the spare on but that means no highway driving. Need to make an appointment tomorrow to get 2 new tires installed. So much for any spare cash I had lying around (which wasn't much anyways).

The day did get better. My meeting was at the tennis & racquet club in town to start teaching fitness classes there and it went really well. That makes job number 3 as I currently teach at another fitness club in town in addition to my full time job.

The Beginning

I have created this blog in attempt to organize my thoughts, rants, musings, inspirations and whatever else happens to come up. I thought it might help me keep my sanity during a my boyfriend's year long deployment and preparing a teenage daughter to go of to university and out into the world on her own.

This post comes 2 days after 'wheels up' for Afghanistan for D and 1 day after B left for the UK on a school trip for 12 days. This means no packing lunches or taxi service for B and a lot of time to myself. D and I currently live 5 hours apart so the deployment hasn't really been a factor yet since we are used to being apart for sometimes weeks at a time. He has also been able to call everyday so far but I know that will not last. That's when it will really sink in.

I hope to keep this blog updated daily with my efforts to keep busy for 363 more days and really with anything that may come up. I'm brand new to blogging but love the venue it provides for any one on any topic.
